Restylane®
Restylane® is another innovative dermal filler available for our Miami Beach patients. Restylane® can augment the lips and reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. Composed of hyaluronic acid, Restylane® is a natural substance that is ideal for adding volume beneath deep creases and moderate wrinkles. Since Restylane® is made from a substance which occurs naturally in the human body, no allergy testing is required for treatment. During the procedure, injections are administered into the areas targeted for rejuvenation. This generally takes about 30 minutes, and patients can usually get right back to their daily routines immediately after treatment.

Restylane® Results
Patients should see the full results of Restylane® within a day or two after the procedure. There may be some swelling after treatment; however, this should dissipate within the first few days. The effects of Restylane® typically last six months or more, making it one of the longer-lasting dermal fillers available. Patients can maintain results of Restylane® with further treatment sessions.

Collagen
Collagen treatments at our Miami Beach practice reduce the appearance of wrinkles and can add volume to the lips and cheeks. The treatment can also work to smooth out crow's feet and lighten acne scars. Collagen is a natural protein that works to replenish the body's loss of the substance, which can lead to lax and wrinkled skin. Injections of collagen in targeted areas of the face fill in lines and wrinkles and cause the facial skin to exhibit a more youthful appearance. Collagen injections in the lips and cheeks provide a fuller aesthetic, often giving the entire face a whole new look. The entire procedure typically takes 30 minutes to an hour, and results are usually apparent within two days.
Collagen Results
Patients can expect a small degree of bruising, tenderness, or puffiness around the injection sites after collagen treatment; however, these side effects are temporary and should subside within a few days. Normal daily activities can typically be resumed almost immediately after the procedure. Results of collagen treatment can last from six weeks to six months or more, and the effects can be maintained with occasional "touch-up" collagen injections from our Miami Beach cosmetic surgeon.

Juvéderm™
Like Restylane®, Juvéderm™ is made of hyaluronic acid, a human-based substance that can be used to fill in lines and wrinkles and add volume and fullness to the lips and face. Juvéderm™ injections in targeted facial areas provide effective facial rejuvenation and a smoother, more youthful appearance. Juvéderm™ distinguishes itself from many other dermal fillers in that the results typically last longer, in some cases up to a year. No allergy testing is required. Juvéderm™ also typically produces immediate results, which become even more apparent within the first few days after treatment. The procedure usually only lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. Although most people should qualify as candidates for Juvéderm™, pregnant women, those who are breastfeeding, and patients with weakened immune systems are advised not to undergo the procedure. Perlane®
Perlane® injections add fullness to depressions in the face, fill in lines and wrinkles, and can also be used to augment the lips and reduce the appearance of facial scars. Made of a hyaluronic acid, Perlane® does not require an allergy test. Since Perlane® uses more of the hyaluronic acid base than some other dermal fillers, larger skin folds can be effectively treated. Results of Perlane® typically last six months to a year, and its ability to treat a number of different issues associated with aging in the face makes it an excellent option among our many effective injectable skin rejuvenation procedures.

Sculptra®
Sculptra® is a revolutionary new dermal filler designed to add volume to hollowed-out cheeks. The treatment is particularly effective for patients suffering from lipoatrophy (loss of fat in the face) due to diseases such as HIV/AIDS, as well those who have lost facial volume due to aging. Sculptra® is made of polylactic acid, a synthetic substance designed to mimic a natural chemical in the human body. Sculptra® injections stimulate cells to produce collagen, restoring volume and thickening the skin to provide a healthier, more youthful aesthetic. Repeat treatments may be necessary to achieve optimal results. Sculptra® is also useful in treating circles around the eyes, wrinkles and fine lines, scars, and general skin depressions. It requires no skin testing before the procedure. Sculptra® treatment can last up to two years, making it the longest lasting dermal filler.
Radiesse™
Radiesse™ can effectively reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles around the mouth and nose, and add fullness to facial features. This injectable filler can also treat symptoms of lipoatrophy, a condition often suffered by individuals who are getting older, and those with HIV/AIDS. Radiesse is composed of a naturally-occurring substance called calcium hydroxylapatite. Since this chemical is already produced in the human body, Radiesse requires no allergy testing. Radiesse™ stimulates the natural growth of collagen, making it one of the longer-lasting fillers available. Some patients have seen results last up to two years with Radiesse™.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal, offered by our Miami Beach cosmetic surgeon, can permanently remove unwanted hair from virtually any area of the body. While other hair removal methods such as electrolysis, waxing, and shaving can be tiresome and painful, laser hair removal targets the hair at the root, with the goal of permanent elimination.
Dr. Just Brahmatewari uses the Apogee Elite™ laser, which includes two types of lasers: Alexandrite for light skin and YAG for all skin types including dark skin. The gentle light from these lasers is absorbed by the hair follicle without touching or damaging the skin. After shaving the target area, Dr. Brahmatewari will use the hand-held laser to beam jets of light into the follicles, effectively vaporizing them and making it virtually impossible for them to ever grow back. Depending on the size and number of treatment areas, laser hair removal is typically performed in less than an hour at our Miami Beach practice.
Laser Hair Removal Results
Patients can expect some temporary swelling and redness in the treated areas; however this can be controlled with skin creams, ice packs, or aloe gels. Normal daily routines can generally be resumed immediately after the procedure. Laser hair removal is most effective when performed as a series of treatments over the course of four to five months. Occasional touch-up sessions may be necessary to remove individual hairs that spring up. Laser hair removal typically results in at least an 80 to 90 percent reduction in hair growth.

The latest in laser technology can provide a sharp reduction in the appearance of veins and brown spots by focusing a precise beam of light directly onto the areas targeted for treatment, resulting in a smooth, healthy layer of skin. For the best results, a series of laser treatment sessions may be required.
LUMENIS® ActiveFX Laser Skin Tightening and Resurfacing
ActiveFX is a CO2 fractional laser procedure performed in a single treatment with minimal patient downtime. During the procedure, a high-energy beam of laser light is used to smooth out lines, wrinkles, and scars, remove brown spots and other irregularities, and tighten the skin. It also stimulates formation of new underlying collagen to continue improvement over time. With fractional laser treatment, only a fraction of the skin's surface is treated by the laser, leaving small "bridges" of untouched skin. This technique makes the healing process much faster and enables you to get back to normal activities sooner.
