Collagen

Collagen treatments at our Miami dermatology practice reduce the appearance of wrinkles and can add volume to the lips and cheeks. The treatment can also work to smooth out crow's feet and lighten acne scars. Collagen is a natural protein that works to replenish the body's loss of the substance, which can lead to lax and wrinkled skin. Injections of collagen in targeted areas of the face fill in lines and wrinkles and cause the facial skin to exhibit a more youthful appearance. Collagen injections in the lips and cheeks provide a fuller aesthetic, often giving the entire face a whole new look. The entire procedure typically takes 30 minutes to an hour, and results are usually apparent within two days.

Collagen Results

Patients can expect a small degree of bruising, tenderness, or puffiness around the injection sites after collagen treatment; however, these side effects are temporary and should subside within a few days. Normal daily activities can typically be resumed almost immediately after the procedure. Results of collagen treatment can last from six weeks to six months or more, and the effects can be maintained with occasional "touch-up" collagen injections from our Miami cosmetic surgeon.
